Some people believe in fate, while others just live it. As for Jeffrey and Kelley, there is no other way to explain how they met other than  “it was meant to be.” During the summer of 1998, the epic, Titanic, was approaching its final days in the box office. The movie was being offered at the discount theatre for only $2. Little did the two of them know, during the credits of Titanic, Jeffrey and Kelley would begin the rest of their lives together. After having worked that day, Kelley had made plans with a girlfriend from work, to go see the 7:00 show of Titanic.

Meanwhile, 120 miles away, Jeffrey and his friend Steven were returning home from a camping trip in North Park. Steven had made a tape of the Titanic soundtrack, and it was playing as they drove the long drive down the canyon. The music caused Jeffrey to remember he had offered to take his brother Rob to the see the movie.  He decided that he would call his brother and invite him to the movie when he returned home that evening.

As 7:00 approached, came, and went, Kelley’s friend had unfortunately still not shown up for the movie. Understanding that her friend may have been held up somewhere, Kelley decided to head back to her car. As she was getting into her car, Kelley’s friend pulled into the parking lot. Being Kelley’s fifth time to see the movie, she knew it would be no problem filling in the details of the first twenty minutes!!!

Jeffrey and Rob also arrived a little late, and sat a few rows from the front of the theater. It was the fifth time that Jeffrey had seen Titanic as well, and the first time for Rob.

As the movie ended and the credits rolled with Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” playing in the background, Jeffrey and his brother stood up in their seats and turned away from the screen to stretch. As Jeffrey surveyed the theater, he saw a friend of his from work. Sitting next to his friend was a teary eyed blonde. Jeffrey and Rob made their way toward the exit of the theater nearest the screen.  As Jeffrey began to push the door open, a feeling came over him that made him pause and go back into the theater to meet the girl sitting next to his friend. The very next day Jeffrey and Kelley planned a date for the upcoming week. Little did they know that this moment  would be the beginning of the rest of their lives together.

So all in all, Jeffrey and Kelley believe it was fate that brought them together. What were the chances that two guys camping would be listening to the theme song from Titanic; Kelley would be getting into her car ready to leave the movie theater when her friend drove up; and Jeffrey looking back before walking out of the movie theater? Whatever it was, it brought them together for a lifetime!
